Grant Awards
ToolBox Grant awards of $15,000 will be given to midsize arts and human service nonprofit organizations serving Tarrant County. These one-time awards will be for projects that emphasize measuring and communicating an organization's impact.
In order to begin strategic thinking regarding measurement and communications, those wishing to submit a letter of intent must attend the April 24 seminar "Defining and Communicating Your Results."
The ToolBox Grant cycle consists of a letter of intent process. Successful letters include thoughtful and strategic projects that involve measuring organizational effectiveness, using measurement results and/or communicating organizational impact. A letter of intent plus corroborating documents are due June 22, 2012. Select nonprofit organizations will be invited to submit a full proposal that is due August 17, 2012.
For more information regarding the ToolBox Grant process, please see the grant orientation presentation.
Purpose of ToolBox Grant Cycle
Enhancing Capacity to Serve Clients
Grants will serve needs of midsize nonprofits struggling to leverage fundraising dollars and enhance their capacity to serve their clients. ToolBox Grants aim to strengthen organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
Augment Donor Engagement
Evaluating organizational effectiveness generates data that nonprofits can use to make necessary improvements thus increasing capacity to better serve clients and raise additional funds. Nonprofits often mention the problems facing their communities and their need to take action. However, funders and other stakeholders are eager to hear the impact their donation makes. Assessing that impact and communicating it are the actions that, we believe, will result in program improvements, as well as strengthened donor engagement.
Collaborate with a Community of Funders
The Community Foundation of North Texas is turning to its community of funders for help with the grant selection process. Project descriptions and intent will be shared with the Community Foundation's donor advisors.
Strengthen Foundation
The grant cycle will allow the Community Foundation to strengthen its position within the community as it strives to become a more useful partner in the philanthropic arena.
