How to use the Community Foundation

1. Find your cause

Decide how your values and interests relate to how you give and what causes in the community are important to you and your family.

2. Let us carry-out your philanthropic goals

The Community Foundation of North Texas provides a locally governed, efficient vehicle where donors can establish philanthropic funds according to their interests and preferred involvement.

Gifts to funds established by donors receive maximum tax deductions, share in audit and investment costs and benefit from the efficiencies of joint administration.

3. Customize your fund

We make giving rewarding and convenient by offering you choices. You can open a fund using a variety of assets, and our ability to customize your fund makes it easy for you to give, no matter what your philanthropic priorities.

4. Implement now and later

Once you've established and named a fund, we handle the administration - saving your time, money and energy.

Often, donors choose to first establish a donor advised fund which gives them the advantage of a private foundation without the cost and fees associated with one. Later, many donors also choose to endow their funds to ensure long-term benefit to their causes or favorite charities.

Many charitably minded people have worked with their professional advisors to create funds in the Community Foundation for administering charitable gifts in their wills and IRA's.

5. Involve your family

The Community Foundation of North Texas involves your family in your giving and offers opportunities to learn about local issues and effective giving strategies. Together we are building a healthy community and the next generation of philanthropists.
