GUIDELINES FOR GRANT APPLICATION TO
COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF NORTH TEXAS

Community Foundation of North Texas accepts grant requests from nonprofit organizations for programs in the North Texas area. 

Priority categories for funding include:

  • Human Services
  • Community Programs and Service
  • Education
  • Health
  • Arts and Cultural Affairs

The following should be used to prepare a discretionary grant application. Applications should be brief but complete enough to explain the project. When an application is received, it will be reviewed for thoroughness and receipt acknowledged. Community Foundation may request a meeting with the proposer to discuss the application.

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF NORTH TEXAS
DISCRETIONARY GRANT APPLICATION OUTLINE

I. TITLE PAGE
Name of Grantee (exactly as shown on Internal Revenue Service tax-exempt determination letter, unless a governmental entity).
Project name (if different from Grantee), street address, city, state and zip code.
Contact person, title, phone number.

II. PURPOSE OF GRANT
Description of the community need met by the proposal.
How many and who will be served by this project? (Be specific)
What outcomes are expected as a result of the project?
How will the project be evaluated?
Description of expenses for which Community Foundation funds will be used.
Exact dollar ($) amount requested from Community Foundation.

III. FINANCIAL INFORMATION
A line item budget for the total project.
A plan for continuing the project after the requested discretionary grant funds expire.
What other foundations, corporations, individual donors or volunteer groups have you approached for funds?
How will a discretionary grant from Community Foundation to the project leverage additional dollars (other foundation or corporate funds, governmental funds, etc.)?

IV. BACKGROUND OF ORGANIZATION
Brief description on the history and development of the organization.
If the purpose of the organization has changed, why and what is different now?
List the Board of Directors, including name and affiliation of each one.
List all current staff. Specify who will be involved with the project.
What specific qualifications do they bring to the project?

V. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (must be provided)
A copy of the Grantee Organization's tax-exempt determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service.
A copy of the Organization's most recent audited financial statement or Form 990.
A copy of the Organization's current operating budget.
