Nancy E. Jones, president
Nancy E. Jones is the President of the Community Foundation of North Texas. The Community Foundation – a vehicle to carry out donors’ charitable wishes and to provide a means for legacies to be left for our area – currently has assets of $147 million and makes grants of more than $8 million each year. The Community Foundation is based in Tarrant County and serves the communities of the North Texas region.
Jones has a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky at Lexington and Masters and Bachelors degrees in Economics from the University of Southern California. In 1997, she was appointed by then-Governor Bush to serve on the Board of Regents of the Texas Tech University System. During her seven years of service, she served as Vice-Chair of the Board, Chair of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee and Chair of a Presidential Search. She presently serves on the Executive Committee and the Board of the Texas Tech University Foundation.
Jones has also served on the Board of Directors of the Council on Foundations in Washington, D.C. as well as the Conference of Southwest Foundations; she still serves on the Community Foundation National Marketing Action Team.
Prior to her move to Fort Worth, Nancy was the founding President of the Community Foundation of Abilene, building that Community Foundation from an initial base of $750,000 to $80 million in endowed assets. She and her husband Ross have 3 children and 12 grandchildren, 2 bird dogs and a golden retriever. They spend a lot of their free time on a ranch in Coleman County.
