Grants for Nonprofits

The Community Foundation of North Texas is seeking additional ways to help nonprofits receive grants from the Community Foundation.

Donor advised grantmaking is currently the primary way to receive a grant from the Community Foundation of North Texas.  A new initiative of the Community Foundation is to provide additional information to our donor advisors to assist them in understanding the needs of the entire community, which will hopefully result in additional funding for your agency.  This will be an ongoing part of the Community Foundation’s strategies.

A summer grant program for capacity building for midsize nonprofits in Tarrant County has been launched. These $8,000 - $15,000 grants will provide funding for internal improvements that will make it easier for qualifying agencies to provide enhanced, increased or more cost-effective services to their clients.  The deadline for a Letter of Interest (after meeting the definition of a midsize nonprofit organization) will be July 1.

Long term strategy:  The Community Foundation is embarking on a long-term strategy to attract unrestricted and broad field of interest endowments to serve our region.

These unrestricted endowments typically come from the estate plans of those who understand that future needs cannot be adequately met by highly restricted endowments.  We are attempting to educate people to think about both specific (your agency) and general giving (the future of our community).  In this way, the Community Foundation will have a pool of endowments for awarding more grants to benefit the North Texas community.

Thank you for your patience as we move the Community Foundation towards being the philanthropic resource center of North Texas.  We have much to do!
